Dear Sir,

My name is Joshua Herrod, I’m nineteen years old and I am currently studying on a course at Crawley College. It’s a 2 year National Diploma in Media Production and I am working on a news package at the moment. I’m covering the sale of Gatwick by BAA plc from an angle such as if Gatwick is better or worse off if it were to be sold or another angle being who would be affected by it and how.

I am seeking permission to film the general public going about their day to day business in the landside south terminal and a few signs highlighting where my news package is, all relevant cutaway footage. I can say no one will be identified as the shots I will be using won’t be personal. The footage will take my ten minutes to set up and shoot, and will only be about thirty seconds long in the actual news package.

When the news package is finished it will be shown in classes on the media production floor at central Sussex college and possibly later in the year it might be shown (although a short clip) at an awards evening at the Hawth Theatre in Crawley, to an audience consisting of the students and teachers from the course and a small number of friends and family.

I am seeking permission as the footage I seek would be completely relevant to the news package and make it look professional.

I hope I have put my case across well and I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Faithfully,

Joshua Herrod

DURATION: 3-4 minutes

AUDIENCE: General audience watching the news, any individuals interested in Gatwick airport, BAA Plc etc.

A loose schedule so far consists of research, permission slips and dates and times for interviews to be attained in the first to second week. In the third week I will review footage and make sure I have everything I need and start to edit and put together my news package I am confident I will complete my news package within my deadline.
